The Champions Challenge launched in March 2015. All circuits running BIZ Karts across the country were invited to join the first year of BIZ Karts’ rental kart championship. Over the course of the year, circuits ran lap time competitions or full championships in search of their two finalists. Last week’s Final on Saturday 27th February saw all the circuit finalists coming together to race it out for those amazing 7 prizes. In case you didn’t hear what the prizes were, each winner got a free weekend racing in the MINI Challenge, complete with practice sessions, qualifying and up to four races!
Over the course of the day, we ran x7 weight classed heats (15 in the ‘lights’, 15 in the ‘heavies’) whereby our karters accumulated points based on their finishing positions. Points were tallied up at the end of the heats and determined starting positions for the Final. Racing was exciting, clean (more or less!) and close until the very end. We’re very excited to announce that we have now found their 7 winners – the BIZ 7 Race Team!
‘Lights’ Class (in order of their finishing position):
- Piers Prior (Donington circuit)
- Macaulay Austin (Brands Hatch Indy circuit)
- Will Foulkes (Snetterton circuit)
‘Heavies’ Class (in order of their finishing position)
- Greg Barnard (Oulton Park circuit)
- Iain Weber (Silverstone circuit)
- Luke Chard-Maple (Rockingham circuit)
We also saved one spot for a wildcard place! BIZ Karts decided this based on the day’s events. Our wildcard winner was chosen because of the exciting tussle that took place between him and 3rd place light-wight winner, Will Foulkes! Having just missed out on making it into the top 3 spots, BIZ decided to award Nick Griggs the wildcard space.
Wildcard Space
- Nick Griggs (Cadwell Park circuit)
